About Heather Piper

Heather E. Piper LMT, NCTM
Is the owner and primary Muscular Therapist at River Bend Therapeutic Massage. She opened her office in 2002
in Kennebunk Maine. She does travel sessions by appointment, to the following areas, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Wells, Biddeford Pool, Fortunes Rock, Goose Rocks beach area.

She is a Certified Myoskeletal Alignment Therapist, trained by Erik Dalton of the Freedom from Pain Institute. She did her certification study in Costa Rica in November of 2023.

What is Myoskeletal Alignment? AKA (MAT) is deep tissue and muscle activation techniques for posture and pain relief.

Heather is a graduate of the Muscular Therapy Institute (MTI). Muscular Therapy is a system of massage therapy that was created by Dr. Ben Benjamin. Which incorporates Swedish, myofacial and friction therapy, and deep tissue techniques.

She volunteered for 25 years as a massage therapist at the Pan Mass Challenge. She has worked at numerous events, and as a volunteer massage therapist, at the George Bush Celebrity Classic at the Cape Arundel Golf Club, the Boston Marathon, Maine Marathon, the Trek Across Maine, Peaks to Portland Swim and other sporting events. She was asked many times to provide massage therapy to the performers and tour staff at the Merrill Auditorium and the Cross Insurance Center Arena, and the State Theater in Portland Maine. She worked closely with the actors and actresses in the movie, The Crucible.

Heather used her experience as an LMT as the foundation for the coursework she taught at a local massage therapy school. Planning classes and sharing her knowledge of the massage field was rewarding.

I love receiving massage therapy and with my background in education and physical education, what better combination is there.  I have been a competitive athlete for most of my life and I see the benefits of massage for nearly every athlete that wishes to recover faster, play better, or reduce their handicap.
